fot. Schüco | In residential buildings, the Schüco ZIP Design Screen with a strong connection to the outside offers a welcome change to the external blinds frequently used.

For residential and commercial projects, Schüco already offers a comprehensive range of sun shading for the most diverse requirements and applications. Products include large and rolling louvre blade systems, Venetian blind and film systems as well as switchable glass. Now the company is expanding its range with flexible textile sun shading.

The external shading solution is called Schüco ZIP Design Screen. It can withstand wind speeds of up to 25 m/s and can be integrated in selected Schüco window and façade systems. The market launch is planned for the third quarter of 2019.

The new Schüco ZIP Design Screen means that heat gain in buildings can be significantly reduced on sunny days. Made from weather-resistant textiles in various designs or flame-retardant fabric (B1), 18 m² of sun shading can be produced as “a single piece”. Depending on the fabric chosen, a level of transparency between 0 and 14% can be achieved, making it possible to have either complete darkness or retain a link to the outside world, even when the sun shading is fully lowered. This is still the case on days with strong winds, as the sun shading can withstand wind speeds of between 9 – 10 on the Beaufort scale. It is achieved by means of the lateral track guide of the blind that is integrated in the profile. It prevents the blind from being pulled out of the guide.

Furthermore, the sun shading with ZIP guide stands out with its smooth fabric appearance, creating a homogeneous look, and features obstacle detection when the blinds are raised or lowered. The Schüco ZIP Design Screen can be fully integrated in the new Schüco UDC 80 aluminium unitised façade system (Unitised Dynamic Construction, 80 mm profile face width), the new AWS 75 PD.SI window system (Aluminium Window System, 75 mm basic depth, Panorama Design, Super Insulated) and the tried-and-tested AWS 75.SI window system.

Installation benefits

The Schüco Zip Design Screen sun shading is supplied pre-assembled, all rolled up and ready for installation in a closed blind box. For the AWS window systems, this is already supplied with additional thermal insulation. The weight of the blind is minimal and the installation is quick and easy. The same is true for modifications, which can be made in the aluminium UDC 80 unitised façade via an access hatch directed downwards without completely dismantling the blind box.
