Located in Wrocław, Sagittarius Business House and West Link are two modern office and service buildings. What connects the two buildings, apart from their location, is an interesting architectural design and the glass used in their façades. In both cases it is SunGuard® SN 70/35HT glass – high selectivity Guardian glass.
For a few years Wrocław has been named alongside fastest developing cities in Poland. The city has become a seat for both numerous domestic companies and international corporations, operating mainly in the IT and technological sectors. The city’s openness to modernity and innovation is also reflected in the high number of interesting architectural projects that appear every year on the map of the capital of Lower Silesia. Two of such facilities – Sagittarius Business House and West Link – deserve our special attention as they stand out both in terms of their appearance and usability.
Glass solution – aesthetics, comfort, certification
Developed by Echo Investment, Sagittarius Business House is a modern A class office building located in the very heart of Wrocław, right next to the Main Railway Station. Its elegant, bright façade, prestigious location and large usable space definitely catch the eye. There are a few factors contributing to the building being so interesting. Its aesthetic features are one thing, but it is worth mentioning that it was erected with highest quality standards in mind, with a lot of emphasis put on its energy efficiency and the well-being of future users. The fact that the building was awarded the Excellent BREEAM certificate rating only proves it.
Glass, constituting a significant part of the façade of Sagittarius Business House, has been instrumental in the building’s recognition. Wanting to design as eco- and user-friendly a building as possible, the architects needed to look for glass characterized by highest possible light transmission and a G value not higher than 0,35. The designers and investors expectations were met by high selectivity SunGuard SN 70/35HT glass.
The same Guardian product was specified for the façade of West Link – another office building erected in Wrocław by Echo Investment and situated at Na Ostatnim Groszu Street. Its architect’s main goal was to use high selectivity neutral glass in a lighter shade of blue that would harmonize with the pewter-grey façade of the building. The second of the requirements was to achieve highest possible light transmission for high selectivity glazing. Guardian SunGuard SN 70/35HT glass was chosen for this purpose, meeting visual expectations as well as allowing for the light transmission of over 60% to be reached.
The use of this Guardian product in West Link's façade made its exterior look modern and at the same time provided the building's users with a clear and unobstructed view. What is more, the interior of the building is well-lit and adequately protected against overheating (with the glass transmitting no more than 35% of solar energy). In recognition of meeting strict quality, energy efficiency, and functional requirements the West Link building – similar to Sagittarius Business House – was awarded the Excellent BREEAM certificate rating.
