Excessive energy costs and consumption, excessive carbon emissions, and the ever-present consequences of climate change are challenges that the construction industry needs to urgently address – and are taking centre stage at BAU under the motto “Solutions for environment and climate-conscious construction”.

The focus is on sustainable building and renovating at the Schüco stand B1/301 too. Under the heading “Building Networks”, the company is presenting its future-oriented services and cross-material product range – and is looking forward to lots of exciting discussions at the exhibition. The entire construction industry is faced with the task of significantly reducing the carbon footprint for new and existing buildings. To address this, Schüco is continually further developing its products for climate-conscious building, is actively driving forwards the processes for circular construction and will be showcasing a range of corresponding solutions at its exhibition stand B1/301. The digitalisation of the construction industry also plays a key role here – and is a further hot topic around which Schüco will be presenting its services in Munich. In this respect, the Schüco exhibition stand will focus on the topics of Sustainability, Security, Smart and Fascination, while consulting and services for these pressing industry issues will be presented under the topic of Partnership.

Sustainability – products and services for climate-conscious building

Schüco sees sustainability as a holistic challenge, and as both an obligation and driving force, focusing on the needs of its customers. On this basis, the company develops its products to make an active contribution towards sustainable construction. The Schüco AOC.TI (Add-On Construction, Timber), for example, responds to calls for greater use of the sustainable resource wood, while combining innovative technology, maximum design freedom and contemporary architecture.

Silver-certified in accordance with the Cradle to Cradle Certified® products program, this construction enables a high load-bearing capacity to be achieved alongside narrow face widths. A wide range of outer frame options cover substructures with face widths of 50, 60 and 75 mm and create a harmonious appearance for vertical façades and skylights. As the same gasket is used for mullions and transoms, the amount of planning, logistics and procurement work required is reduced. It also minimises sources of errors while optimising time and cost-effectiveness.

Security – maximum protection for people and buildings

In this area, Schüco will display its comprehensive product range for combating break-ins and break-outs, fire and smoke, and bullets and explosions. For example, the high security specialist Sälzer (part of the Schüco Group) offers maximum and combined protection against break-ins, bullets and explosions with its S1es-60 mullion/transom construction – all with a face width of just 60 mm. High security components integrated into the profile that are completely concealed from the outside together with the corresponding glazing offer tested and certified burglar resistance to RC 5, bullet resistance to FB7-NS and maximum protection against explosions. The security functions can be individually selected or combined within the building envelope to suit requirements. This makes seamless combination with unsecured areas possible. With this, Sälzer and Schüco are able to offer an attractive façade system with a high degree of flexibility and design freedom.

Smart – networked buildings to make life even easier

With smart, networked and digital products from Schüco, the building envelope becomes an intelligent interface between inside and outside. This is made possible, for example, with ventilation and building management systems, award-winning access control and door communication systems and the IoF ID (Internet of Façades ID) – a small tag with a lot of knowledge. With the IoF ID, Schüco is taking an important step towards digitalising the building envelope. The small UV and weather-resistant tag gives window, door and façade units from Schüco their own digital identity – irrespective of the material they are made from.

A component can therefore be clearly identified, located and automatically linked to all the information and documentation related to the product. This saves time and money, and creates complete transparency, which is especially important when it comes to sustainability. The Schüco IoF ID is placed directly on the unit and assigned to the unit via the software. The IoF ID includes an integrated NFC chip and QR code, which carries all the information and documents about the unit. The IoF system creates a digital twin of the unit and provides, for example, information about the materials installed, the carbon footprint, guarantees and the maintenance history.

Fascination – design and aesthetics for unique buildings

This is where you will find room-height, easy-to-use systems that fold, slide, pivot, turn or tilt, as well as free-form façades for a high degree of design freedom. With the folding and sliding system constructions for individual customer requirements – right through to systems with an innovative pneumatic gasket concept for use in high-rise buildings – Schüco makes it easy to create even complex constructions with high requirements in terms of design, aesthetics and customisation. The frameless Schüco AS PD 75.HI Panorama Design sliding system with a barrier-free threshold is new to the range.

At the touch of a button, the moving vent lifts up out of the bottom outer frame, moves to the side automatically and leaves the flush threshold clear for an easy, convenient transition. The outer frames are integrated into the wall, ceiling and floor. For manual systems, the integrated flush pull grip handle completely disappears into the wall. A further highlight is the AS FD folding sliding system platform with a 75 mm or 90 mm basic depth – plus a 90 mm face width and watertightness to class E750. Another eye-catching addition is the new partition wall system for interiors, which is being presented for the first time by Schüco Interior Systems KG, a subsidiary of the Schüco Group based in Borgholzhausen.

Partnership – consultancy and services for future-proof construction

In this area, the company is presenting software, training and consultancy services for architects and fabricators. The Schüco Engineering team advises on project-specific special constructions for building projects beyond the standard. In the Digital & Fabrication area, the company will showcase software and machinery for efficient planning, cost calculation, fabrication and installation.

In the Global Services section, which includes the After Sales teams, the focus is on maintenance, repairs and retrofitting all from a single course, and the Schüco Academy, which imparts expertise through product, specialist and software training sessions. Schüco PreFab Solutions complements these no-hassle packages for complete peace of mind by, for example, fabricating Panorama Design sliding systems to customer specifications. This is ideal for fabricators who are already at full capacity in terms of their staff and fabrication resources but still want to position themselves as innovative sliding system providers in the high-end sector.
